Agrotourism: Delve Experiences
Every now and then, social media algorithms get it right and bring something truly delightful to your feed. For me, it was discovering an upcoming tour of the legendary ‘Grandmother of Juneteenth,’ Opal Lee’s farm. Ever since watching the incredible film Miss Juneteenth, I’ve been captivated by Opal Lee and her remarkable efforts to make Juneteenth a national holiday.
If you haven’t seen Miss Juneteenth, I highly recommend it—especially if you love Fort Worth as much as I do. You can even take a self-guided tour of the film’s locations. Here’s the trailer:
Way back when I was a student at Texas A&M, we learned about how agrotourism can provide a vital additional stream of revenue for small farms. When buying the ticket for the tour, I was thrilled to find this resource where I can discover more agrotourism events like the tour of Opal Lee’s farm on Delve Experiences. The search filter is a wonderful way to discover local farms you can support. Here’s a little screen recording preview of the website:
I hope that helps you to find some fun and educational adventures of your own! And if you aren’t busy on March 4, come tour Miss Opal Lee’s farm with me! Tickets are only $15!!!
